Architects of QUAD win prestigious prize
The Riba Stirling prize, an annual architectural competition, made in association with the
Architects' Journal has been won by the design team behind QUAD.
The winning building was Accordia, a new housing scheme in Cambridge, a composition of varied
flats and houses with courtyards, rooftop gardens and commonly shared public gardens. The scheme
was designed by collaboration between architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Alison Brooks
Architects and Macreanor Lavington. Now in its 13th year, the Stirling claims to be architecture's
Turner prize.
Feilden Clegg Bradley were the architects who designed QUAD, Derby’s £11 M new centre for art
and film. The £11 M venue, which opened on 26th September, is based on the Market Place in Derby
city centre. QUAD is a gallery, cinema, café bar and workshop that anyone can use, and aims to be
an organisation and building that is of local, national and international significance. QUAD
strives to best serve the needs of the people of Derby and the region by attracting the most
significant and important names in the world of art and film and bring them to the city.
